Wright State University, located in Fairborn, Ohio, is a public research university that was established in 1964. Originally a branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State University, it became an independent institution in 1967. The university was named after Orville and Wilbur Wright, who were pioneers in aviation and residents of nearby Dayton.
