Wright State University, located in Fairborn, Ohio, is a public research university that was established in 1964. Originally a branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State University, it became an independent institution in 1967. The university was named after Orville and Wilbur Wright, who were pioneers in aviation and residents of nearby Dayton. Wright State University offers a wide range of academic programs, including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The university is known for its high research activity and is classified as an R2 doctoral university. The athletic teams of Wright State University, known as the Wright State Raiders, compete in Division I of the NCAA as members of the Horizon League. In addition to the main campus, the university also operates a regional campus called Wright State University–Lake Campus, which is located near Celina, Ohio.
