The University of South Alabama (USA) is a public research university located in Mobile, Alabama. Established in May 1963 by the Alabama Legislature, it replaced existing extension programs offered by the University of Alabama in Mobile. The university held its first classes in June 1964 and conducted its inaugural commencement ceremony in June 1967.
