About University
The University of Oregon (UO, U of O, or Oregon) is a public research university located in Eugene, Oregon. It was founded in 1876 and has expanded to include two Portland locations as well as the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston. The university also operates the Pine Mountain Observatory in Central Oregon. The University of Oregon is organized into nine colleges and schools and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The academic programs generally follow a 10-week Quarter System. The university is highly regarded for its research activity and is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities.
