UM-Flint is a public university located in Flint, Michigan. It operates under the policies of the University of Michigan Board of Regents, alongside the University of Michigan-Dearborn. UM-Flint is recognized as one of the five doctoral/professional universities in the state of Michigan. UM-Flint's student-athletes participate in intramural and club sports as the UM-Flint Wolverines. While an unofficial student vote in 2009 selected "The Victors" to avoid confusion with the Michigan Wolverines, the university does not offer varsity intercollegiate athletics. In 2013, the Flint men's ice hockey team earned a spot in the ACHA Division III National Tournament for the first time, eventually advancing to the National Championship Game against the Adrian Bulldogs.
