Princeton University, situated in Princeton, New Jersey, is a prestigious private Ivy League research university. It has a rich history, tracing back to its establishment in 1746 as the College of New Jersey in Elizabeth. Being one of the nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution, it holds a significant place in the country's higher education system. The university underwent relocations, first to Newark in 1747 and then to its current location nine years later. In 1896, it achieved university status and was renamed Princeton University.
