Manhattan College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts university that has a rich history and strong ties to its religious roots. It was founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Originally, it served as an academy for day students, but later expanded to become an institution of higher education. The college received a charter from the New York State Board of Regents, solidifying its status as a recognized educational institution. In 1922, Manhattan College underwent a significant change when it moved from its original location in Manhattan to the Riverdale section of the Bronx. This move allowed the college to establish a new campus and expand its facilities. Today, Manhattan College continues to uphold its commitment to providing a quality education within a Catholic and liberal arts framework.
