Louisiana State University, commonly known as LSU, is a public research university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was established in 1860 as Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy. The campus, dedicated in 1926, features over 250 buildings designed by Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. Situated on a 650-acre plateau along the Mississippi River, the main campus has a rich historical district.
