La Sierra University is a private Seventh-day Adventist university located in Riverside, California. It has a rich history, starting as La Sierra Academy in 1922 and eventually becoming La Sierra College, a liberal arts college. In 1967, it merged with Loma Linda University and became known as the Loma Linda University La Sierra College of Arts and Sciences, also referred to as La Sierra Campus of LLU. However, in 1990, the La Sierra Campus decided to separate from Loma Linda University and became an independent institution, known today as La Sierra University.
