About University
Fordham University is a prestigious private university located in New York City. It was founded in 1841 and is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the northeastern United States. The university was named after the Fordham neighborhood in the Bronx, where its original campus is situated. Although it was initially governed by the church, Fordham has been independent since 1969. The university has a strong Jesuit influence, which is reflected in its curriculum. Fordham offers a wide range of degree programs in over 60 disciplines. It has three campuses in southern New York State, as well as study abroad centers and field offices in various countries. The university's athletic teams, known as the Rams, have a rich history in football and baseball. Fordham has produced numerous successful alumni and faculty members, including prominent politicians, business leaders, entertainers, and influential figures in various fields.
