Drexel University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a private research university. Its undergraduate school was established in 1891 by Anthony J. Drexel, a financier and philanthropist. The university has undergone name changes over the years, originally known as the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry, then the Drexel Institute of Technology, and finally adopting its current name in 1970.
