The College of Saint Rose is a private Roman Catholic college located in Albany, New York. Originally established in 1920 as a women's college by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, it transitioned to a co-educational institution in 1969. Subsequently, the college underwent changes in its governance structure, with the inclusion of laypersons on its board, and became an independent college sponsored by the sisters. Situated in the Pine Hills neighborhood of Albany, the college is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a Division II institution. However, in June 2023, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the college's accreditor, publicly expressed concerns about its financial difficulties and the potential loss of accreditation. Consequently, the college's trustees made the decision to close the institution in May 2024 during a meeting held in November 2023.
