Cleveland State University (CSU) is a public research university located in Cleveland, Ohio. It was established in 1964 and began offering classes in 1965. Prior to its establishment, CSU acquired Fenn College, a private school that had been operating since 1923. In 1969, CSU also absorbed the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law. CSU is currently part of the University System of Ohio and is classified as an "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity."
