Boston College (BC) is a private Jesuit research university located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Established in 1863, the university retains the term "college" in its name, reflecting its historical origins as a small liberal arts college. The university offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees through its eight colleges and schools. Boston College's main campus is a designated historic district and showcases some of the earliest examples of collegiate Gothic architecture in North America.
