Boston College (BC) is a private Jesuit research university located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Established in 1863, the university retains the term "college" in its name, reflecting its historical origins as a small liberal arts college. The university offers bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees through its eight colleges and schools. Boston College's main campus is a designated historic district and showcases some of the earliest examples of collegiate Gothic architecture in North America. The athletic teams at Boston College are known as the Eagles, and their colors are maroon and gold. The mascot is Baldwin the Eagle.
