Belmont University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1890. Originally known as Belmont Women's College, it was established by Ida Hood and Susan Heron, who were both schoolteachers. Over the years, the institution experienced growth and development, eventually becoming Belmont University in 1991. Today, the university attracts a diverse student body from across the United States and around the world. In 2020, Belmont University gained national attention for hosting the final presidential debate of the election cycle. While the university is no longer affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, it continues to maintain its Christian identity.
