The University of Kent, formerly known as the University of Kent at Canterbury, is a public research university located in Kent, United Kingdom. It received its royal charter on 4 January 1965, and the first Chancellor, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, was formally installed the following year. The university's main campus is situated north of Canterbury, spread across 300 acres of parkland. Additionally, it has campuses in Medway and Tonbridge in Kent, as well as European postgraduate centers in Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Paris.
