Robert Gordon University, commonly known as RGU (Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh Raibeart Ghòrdain), is a public university situated in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. Established as a university in 1992, RGU has its origins in an educational institution founded in the 18th century by Robert Gordon, a prosperous Aberdeen merchant. The university also traces its roots to various institutions that provided adult and technical education in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is one of two universities in the city, alongside the University of Aberdeen. RGU operates as a campus university, and its single campus in Aberdeen is located at Garthdee, in the south-west of the city. The university offers degrees in a wide range of disciplines from BA/BS to PhD, with a primary focus on professional, technical, health, and artistic disciplines relevant to business and industry.
