About University

Middlesex University London (legally Middlesex University and abbreviated MDX) is a public research university located in Hendon, northwest London, England. The university's name is derived from its location within the historic county boundaries of Middlesex. Its roots trace back to 1878 when St Katharine's College was established in Tottenham as a teacher training college for women. After merging with several other institutes, the university took its current form in 1992 and is categorized as one of the post-1992 universities (former polytechnics). The university offers courses through three faculties: the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Professional and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of the Arts and Creative Industries. In 2017, Middlesex University was awarded a Silver rating by the Teaching Excellence Framework. The university has received the Queen's Anniversary Prize three times and has twice been honored with the Queen's Award for Enterprise for its international work.
