Glasgow Caledonian University, also known as GCU, Caledonian, or Caley, is a public university situated in Glasgow, Scotland. It was established in 1993 through the merger of The Queen's College, Glasgow (established in 1875) and Glasgow Polytechnic (established in 1991). The university is located in the Cowcaddens district, which is in close proximity to the city centre. In 2013, GCU established a partner institution in New York, becoming the first foreign university to be granted permission to award degrees in the state. However, in 2023, GCU announced plans to sell its New York campus due to it not meeting expectations.
