Aberystwyth University is located in Aberystwyth, Wales. It was a founding member of the former University of Wales and became independent again in 2007. The university has undergone several name changes throughout its history, starting as University College Wales, Aberystwyth in 1872, then becoming the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1894, and eventually changing to the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in the mid-1990s.
