The University of Limerick (UL) is a public research university located in Limerick, Ireland. It was founded in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, and became a university in September 1989. UL's campus is situated on both sides of the River Shannon, covering a significant area of land. The university offers a cooperative education program that provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience as part of their degree.
