Maynooth University, also known as MU, is a university located in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. It is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland. Maynooth University was established in accordance with the Universities Act, 1997. Prior to the establishment of Technological University Dublin in 2019, it held the distinction of being Ireland's youngest university. The university has its roots in the secular faculties of St Patrick's College, Maynooth, which was founded in 1795.
