About University
The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is a public research university located in Tasmania, Australia. It was founded in 1890 and is one of the oldest universities in Australia. Christ College, a residential college affiliated with UTAS, was proposed in 1840 and established in 1846. The college was inspired by the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
